IRBM is a scientific contract research organization (CRO) that stands at the forefront of drug discovery, leveraging a single, unified research facility, located in Pomezia (Rome), Italy, to accelerate team-based breakthroughs and improve efficiencies from initial concept to pre-clinical candidate.
With a history of contributing to several approved drugs, and its own internal pipeline of oncology and other therapeutic assets, IRBM is powered by deep collaborations and decades of expertise from leading global institutions. Our comprehensive in-house capabilities assist partners in achieving key milestones and progressing towards clinical readiness, positioning IRBM as a major player in driving innovation in the pharmaceutical and biotech fields.
Job Description
We are looking for a talented and motivated NMR spectroscopist with a passion for structural biology and structure-based drug discovery. The selected candidate will join a fast-paced NMR team and will work in a highly collaborative research environment to advance scientific projects involving the study of small molecules, peptides and biomolecules (proteins and nucleic acids). The applicant should possess solid training in bio-NMR spectroscopy, demonstrate innovative and analytical problem-solving abilities, and show a strong commitment to continuous learning and tackling complex scientific challenges. Hands-on experience with Bruker NMR spectrometers is required.
Key responsibilities
Prepare Bio-NMR samples and acquire/analyze spectra of proteins, peptides, nucleic acids and small molecules
Interpret autonomously experimental data and present results to internal project teams and external clients/collaborators
Develop and/or implement new NMR assays to probe the structure, dynamics and interactions of biomolecules and ligands
Help maintaining an in-house Bio-NMR facility consisting of four NMR spectrometers
Perform lab and office duties, such as ordering reagents, organizing inventories and keeping experimental records
Contribute intellectually to structure-based drug discovery projects and collaborate with members from other disciplines like medicinal chemistry, biology, etc.
Competencies/skills
Strong theoretical knowledge of NMR and hand-on experience in Bruker spectrometer setup
Knowledge of multinuclear and multidimensional NMR spectroscopy; experience with NMR-related software for spectra/data analysis
Familiarity with the use of biomolecular NMR spectroscopy for studying proteins/nucleic acids/small molecules (necessary additional training will be provided)
Outstanding organizational skills, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Highly collaborative and team-oriented attitude; outstanding oral and written communication skills
Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English is mandatory
Qualifications
The applicant must hold a Ph.D. in Structural Biology, Chemistry, or related fields. Additional experience as a postdoc or in an industrial setting with a focus on NMR will be considered as a plus.
The position is based in Pomezia (RM).
During the job interview, we will evaluate each candidate’s experience, and the job offer will be commensurate.
